After years of chasing gold with UBC Varsity Rowing, Josh made the natural transition from gliding across water at 5am to grinding up hills at whatever time he manages to clip in by. Standing tall enough to be classified as a windbreak, Joshua is hard to miss—especially because his bike looks like it was custom-built for a giraffe. When he shows up for a group ride, people don’t ask if he’ll pull—they ask for how long. Just don’t ask him to sprint….it’s a work in progress. When he’s not towering over the peloton, he works as a geotechnical engineer-in-training, which means he gets paid to stare at dirt, talk about slope stability, and use words like “till”, “cleavage”, and “shear strength” unironically. He says it’s engineering, but we think it’s just an excuse to play with rocks and wear steel-toed boots. A connoisseur of espresso and an unapologetic carb enthusiast, he believes a proper training ride isn’t complete without at least one coffee stop and a wheelbarrow of carbonara.
